Our sustainable alternative is a 100% compostable mailer that is completely planet-friendly and can be composted at home or commercially. All labelling has been created with the recyclable, socially aware and responsible mindset.
We use local sewers and creatives
All our creations have been designed and handmade locally in an ethical and sustainable way. We feel extremely passionate about supporting local industry and talent. As locals, they easily understand our vision and way of life and know how to convey this in the products we want to create.
What are Unused Fabrics?
If you're not in the business of fashion or homewares you may not have heard of the term 'unused fabrics'. Unused fabrics refer to the leftover materials collecting dust in textile mills and garments factories; abandoned after a large production run, or discarded because the dye was the wrong colour, or is simply surplus fabric that is unsold and left in storage. Making use of this unused fabric is fast becoming a popular choice for creatives like us who want to develop products by a sustainable, ethical process. Instead of going to landfill, we are giving life to these beautiful unused fabrics by repurposing them in our luxe one-of-a-kind cushions.
So, why are we committed to using unused fabrics?
Not only is it a sustainable practice - It encourages creativity. These incredible unused fabrics include unique patterns and textures that are so inspiring for us as designers and have pushed us to work within the perimeters of what's available, which means every buyer will receive a one-of-a-kind cushion made from beautiful uncommon fabrics; giving each of our cushions an individual story behind them.
And then, of course, It's good for our planet, it's a sustainable alternative to buying new fabrics. If we want to minimise our impact on the environment we need to look at reducing and eventually ending the creation of new synthetic materials and the best way right now is to support the reuse of existing materials.
As conscious buyers ourselves we know how important it is to connect and support labels like ours who are socially and environmentally aware. Our mission when creating hygge:liv; was to commit to sourcing and utilising unused fabric, giving a second life to fabric that would otherwise be destined for landfill.
